Emploid Microsoft SQL Plugin

This plugin provides four Microsoft SQL Server tools and a Document Store loader:

  • Execute Query
  • Insert Rows
  • Update Rows
  • Delete Rows
  • Microsoft SQL Loader

The tools appear in Agent Flow under Microsoft SQL (Plugin) and in Agent node tool selection. The loader appears in Document Store as Microsoft SQL / Microsoft SQL Loader (Plugin). All capabilities share one installation-scoped provider credential.

Connection settings

Configure the provider under Settings → Plugins:

  • user, password, server, database
  • optional instanceName, port, and domain
  • TLS and self-signed certificate policy
  • connection and request timeouts
  • TDS version
  • allowlisted additional configuration

When a domain is set, the plugin connects as DOMAIN\user. An instance name uses SQL Browser discovery and does not also force a port.

Query parameters

Positional parameters use question marks and a JSON array:

SELECT * FROM dbo.Documents WHERE id = ? AND active = ?
[42, true]

Named parameters use @name and a JSON object:

SELECT * FROM dbo.Documents WHERE id = @id
{"id": 42}

CRUD statements quote identifiers and bind every value. Update and delete require a where filter unless allowAll is explicitly enabled.

Document Store

Microsoft SQL Loader accepts only read-only SELECT or WITH queries. Every result row becomes one document:

  • pageContent: one column: value line per field
  • metadata: source, loader, row index, columns, query, normalized row, and optional additional metadata

Temporary page discovery data uses random identifiers, owner-only file permissions and a 15-minute TTL. It is deleted after content retrieval finishes.

Development

Run deterministic unit tests:

python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v

Run the SQL Server integration suite:

EMPLOID_MSSQL_INTEGRATION=1 \
EMPLOID_MSSQL_SERVER=sql.example.local \
EMPLOID_MSSQL_DATABASE=emploid_test \
EMPLOID_MSSQL_USER=plugin_test \
EMPLOID_MSSQL_PASSWORD='...' \
python3 -m unittest tests.test_integration -v

Offline dependencies

Refresh the pinned Python 3.12 Linux amd64 and arm64 wheel set:

python3 scripts/vendor_wheels.py
python3 scripts/source_lock.py --update

Verify it without network access:

python3 scripts/vendor_wheels.py --verify

Package and local publish

The following command verifies source and wheel checksums, builds the package, signs and verifies it, writes immutable package/icon objects to the local Marketplace, updates catalog metadata and checkpoint files, and synchronizes the mirror database:

python3 scripts/package_and_publish.py

Use --skip-database-import only when preparing an artifact for a deployment whose database sync runs separately.

For a version upgrade:

  1. Change the version in manifest.yaml, pyproject.toml, marketplace.json metadata when applicable, and the publish script constants.
  2. Run unit and integration tests.
  3. Refresh wheels only when dependency pins change.
  4. Review and update source-checksums.json.
  5. Run the package and publish command.
  6. Install or upgrade from Settings → Plugins and verify Agent Flow plus Document Store.
